CALLIOPE SUSTAINABILITY MANIFESTO

Look what is happening to our world:

maybe you think nobody can save it.

That nobody can change things.

But actually, anyone can.

Anyone can change small

habits, commit to achievable

objectives, try to do things

in a slightly different way.

Is that enough?

Yes, if we all do our part,

and as long as we do not think we are too small

to make a difference.

Because caring for the planet

and those who inhabit it

is a heroic and monumental mission,

one that can only be accomplished

by normal people, like us.

At Teddy Group we have always believed

that fashion should belong to everyone.

We also think that it does make a

‎

difference who you are or where you come from:

you can always change things,

as long as you are not alone.

We’re not waiting for a hero to save us.

We’re starting to work on what really matters.

Now. Together. Join us.

Because anyone can.

EVERYONE CAN.

Product, Planet and People are the three impact areas of ‘Everyone Can’, the Calliope sustainability programme that reflects our commitment to a more responsible and circular path. A path that is an integral part of Teddy’s corporate programme.

On this journey, we believe that everyone can contribute to changing things for the better. That is why we want to inspire you to do your part. Join Calliope’s vision, towards a more sustainable and radiant future.

RAW MATERIALS

Calliope favours organic or recycled fibres that reduce environmental impact. The Everyone Can label identifies our garments that contain more sustainable fibres, but also those whose production processes are responsibly managed with respect to environmental and social impact.

ORGANIC COTTON

Organic cotton is cultivated through organic farming practices. It comes from non-GMO cultivation and without the use of toxic chemicals. Organic cotton does not harm the soil, generates fewer greenhouse gas emissions, and uses less water and energy than conventional cotton. All our products labelled ‘organic’ are supported by OCS or GOTS certifications that guarantee traceability along the supply chain.

RECYCLED COTTON

Recycled cotton can come from the waste of a production process or from used clothing. The use of recycled cotton reduces the consumption of energy, water and dyes used in processing compared to virgin cotton. All our products whose label indicates the presence of recycled fibres are supported by RCS or GRS certifications guaranteeing traceability along the supply chain.

RECYCLED POLYESTER

Recycled polyester can come from waste from a production process or from used clothes. The use of recycled polyester reduces dependence on oil as a raw material, reusing textile waste and reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions compared to virgin polyester. All our products made of recycled fibres are supported by RCS or GRS certification, which guarantee traceability along the supply chain.

REPREVE®

REPREVE® is a registered trademark of UNIFI which has patented a fibre derived from the recycling of plastic bottles from landfills and oceans. Its advantages include lower greenhouse gas emissions and significant savings of water and energy throughout the process. The protocol of this label also includes the control of social and environmental aspects.

TENCEL™ LYOCELL

TENCEL™ Lyocell is a regenerated cellulosic fibre known for its natural comfort and environmentally responsible closed-loop production process that saves resources and minimises waste. Patented by Lenzing AG™, this fibre is derived from controlled or certified wood sources.

VISCOSE ECOVERO™

EcoVero™ is a viscose patented by Lenzing AG™. EcoVero™ is derived from processing wood pulp through a more sustainable circular process. The production process reduces carbon emissions and water consumption by 50% compared to conventional viscose production.

VISCOSE LIVAECO™

Livaeco™ viscose is made from pulp obtained from FSC®-certified sources and follows a strict protocol that can be traced all the way from source to finished garment. Livaeco™ contains a unique molecular tracer that helps in source verification along the value chain. Livaeco™ is produced with low water consumption, low greenhouse gas emissions and has faster biodegradability.

PREMIUM LINEN

This is a natural, 100% vegetable and vegan fibre, grown without irrigation and GMO-free. This flax is certified by an internationally registered trademark guaranteeing the traceability of premium quality flax fibres grown in Western Europe. Certification is verified by an independent third-party organisation for products made of pure linen or containing at least 50 per cent linen.

ZERO WASTE COLLECTION

Washing in cold water preserves fabrics and reduces consumption. When using a washing machine, choose gentle cycles and eco-washes.

Use environmentally friendly detergents with surfactants of vegetable origin. Gentle on garments and people, mindful of the impact on the environment

Hang your garments and let them air dry. By doing so, you will reduce energy consumption and the related greenhouse gas emissions caused by tumble drying and ironing.

HOW WE CARE FOR THE PLANET

Doing our bit for circularity

Thanks to the ‘With You Always’ programme initiated in Calliope shops with the Kids module, we ensure that used clothes collected in store and received by our partner live a second life for those in need. Furthermore, by joining the Circular Fashion Partnership of the Global Fashion Agenda, we promote circular fashion by collecting and recycling textile production waste.

Collaborations and alliances along the chain

We adhere to the international Brands to Zero programme of Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) for the responsible management of chemicals throughout the production chain and the elimination of toxic-harmful substances, thus reducing the industry’s chemical footprint.

Emissions and renewable energy

To contribute to decarbonisation, we submitted our greenhouse gas reduction targets to the Science-Based Targets initiative. We aim to reduce Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 51% by 2031. They are already down 87% in 2023 compared to 2019. From 2023, Calliope’s headquarters and direct shops respectively will be powered by 100% and 96% electricity from renewable sources. Our Goal 3 intensity target is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 51% per unit of product sold by 2031 compared to 2019.

Embrace Nature

With the Embrace Nature project, since 2024 Calliope has been collaborating with ZeroCO2 to combat soil erosion and promote sustainable agricultural practices in Italy. The collaboration includes the planting of 100 trees of native species to improve biodiversity and optimise water resources in a land at risk of desertification near Castelvetrano, Sicily.

Recycled paper packaging

Our quest for circular models also embraces packaging, increasing the use of certified paper from sustainable sources. By 2023, 64.3% of packaging was made from materials from more sustainable sources, of which more than 80% of the paper we use, including cartons, labels and shopping bags, is FSC® certified.

The data reported is the result of internal monitoring and the onus is on Teddy SpA to prove its veracity.
